The second to last weekend of summer is here for Forsyth County folks. Here’s a roundup of some fun things to do in Cumming, GA.

Friday, July 24

1:00 pm – Cumming Library – Winged Ambassadors Birds of Prey – Meet hawks, owls, and falcons in this outside show where you’ll see the birds’ flying techniques.  Learn educational facts and interesting details about each bird, including learning about their unique personalities! All ages welcome and registration is not required. Note:  Weather permitting, this show will be held outdoors.

7:00 pm – Barnes and Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Get Pop-Cultured: Fangirl Friday. Fangirls unite and celebrate fandom! Get introduced to the Women of Marvel, enjoy cosplay, giveaways and much more! Join us to explore favorite fandoms: Marvelites, Sherlockians, Star Warriors, Tolkienites, Potterheads, Whedonites, Batgirls, etc.

8:00 pm – Sawnee Mountain Music concert. Steve Gulley and New PinnacleWe are excited to have Steve bring his great band to SMM for some top-notch bluegrass. Tickets are $10. Call 770-887-7635 for details.

Saturday, July 25

7:00 am – 1:00 pm – Cumming Farmer’s Market at the Cumming Fairgrounds parking lot. Open for the season on Saturdays and Wednesdays!

9:00 am – 3:00 pm – Forsyth Central High School Lady Bulldogs Softball Team will be having a car wash at Citizens Bank. 651 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Cumming, GA 30040.

9:00 am – Terrariums and Fairy Gardens – Pike Nurseries, Cumming, GA – Beat the heat, and plant a miniature garden to enjoy indoors. During this free class, our experts will teach you the basics of terrariums and fairy gardens and show you how to plant a tiny greenhouse for your home.

9:00 am – 4:00 pm – CORE Missions Summer Bazaar – Come join us at our first annual Summer Bazaar. We will have will have a variety of vendors selling different items from make up to jewelry. Along with some homemade items for sell as well. We are also holding a yard sale and offering BBQ plates for $6.50. This event is to help raise money for C.O.R.E. Missions. 3790 Post Road

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Antioch Baptist Church’s first Back to School Bash will have inflatables, a puppet show, music classes, lunch and Bible lessons. “There is no cost for the event, which is targeted towards students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The church’s youth director, Jamie Raper, said parents are welcome to drop their children off or stay for the event. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, and activities will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will be provided with free school supplies as they are leaving at the end of the day.” Located at 2465 Antioch Road in Cumming.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Michaels Kids Club – Make a button frame! Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today. $2.00. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library – Superhero Movie Marathon at The Park: The Avengers  – Celebrate the end of summer with an all-day movie event! Cool off, enjoy snacks, and watch some of our favorite superhero flicks! Earth’s mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.
Rated PG-13; 143 minutes. All ages are welcome to attend today’s movie marathon. Parents please note that these titles are all rated PG-13. Hampton Park Library Meeting Room.

11:00 am – 1:00 pm – Stuff the Bus – Cumming Wal-mart – Who’s going to ‪#‎StuffTheBus‬ with United Way Forsyth tomorrow at the Cumming Walmart from 11am-1pm!?! Please share this post and help us spread the word! http://bit.ly/VDaB6z

11:00 am – Barnes and Noble at The Collection Forsyth Story Time – To the Sea – Travel along on an adventure with Tim as he meets a blue whale and helps him find his way home in a reading of this delightful story about the power of friendship, To the Sea by Cale Atkinson.

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Humane Society of Forsyth County Puppy Palooza Adoption Event at the Humane Society Thrift Store.

12:45 PM – Hampton Park Library – Superhero Movie Marathon at The Park: Captain America: The Winter Soldier  – Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with another super soldier, the black widow, to battle a new threat from old history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. Rated PG-13; 136 minutes.

3:15 PM – Hampton Park Library- Superhero Movie Marathon at The Park: Guardians of the Galaxy  – A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe. Rated PG-13; 121 minutes.

7:00 PM Barnes and Noble at The Collection Forsyth – Get Pop-Cultured: Vinyl Day Trivia Contest. How well do you know your music? Join us for an all genre decade hopping Vinyl music Trivia Contest. This is one trivia contest you don’t want to miss!

Sunday, July 26

1:30 PM – Post Road Library – Superhero Finale Party – Celebrate the end of a super summer with an out-of-this-world Superhero Party! We’ll have games, crafts, and of course, superheroes! Come dressed in your superhero best and meet some beloved superheroes listed below! All ages welcome and registration is not required.

Farmers Produce Market and City Produce markets are open!

Lake Lanier Islands is open! They have a new CAT4 tube slide that plunges into the lake!

The Old Atlanta spray pad is open!
